Josh Franklin grew up in Long Island, New York and has lived in Colorado since 1997. He received his B.A. from Fordham University and graduated cum laude. In 2000, he received his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law, where he served as an articles editor of the law review and was named a member of the Order of the Coif. After graduating from law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Nathan B. Coats on the Colorado Supreme Court. Mr. Franklin joined Davis & Ceriani, P.C. in 2011. His practice focuses on criminal defense, securities litigation, business torts, and complex commercial litigation.

Criminal Defense Practice

Mr. Franklin previously served as a Deputy District Attorney in the Denver DA’s Office for nearly five years, most recently in the Economic Crime Unit. He has prosecuted and defended a wide variety of offenses, ranging from violent and sexual crimes to white collar crimes and violations of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act. He has tried more than forty jury trials, including several first degree murder trials

Litigation Practice

Before joining Davis & Ceriani, P.C., Mr. Franklin practiced with Arnold & Porter LLP and Jacobs Chase LLC. He has represented individuals, small companies, Native American tribes, and large corporations, as plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of disputes in both state and federal court. His litigation experience includes matters involving breach of contract, securities, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, mass tort product liability, First Amendment, and employment claims.

Awards, Professional Memberships and Activities

Mr. Franklin is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. He is admitted to practice in California and Colorado. He was also selected as a “Rising Star” by the Colorado SuperLawyers publication.
